Last weekend the Car Culture returned for a new car meet, this time held at West Ave at River Oaks. Some of you might remember this location as the prior venue for Supercar Saturday before they moved. I sure missed this location, so I was happy to return for a meet held there.
I arrived right around starting time of the event just as the the strip was nearly full with various rides exotics and few others already on display. I made my way into the parking garage, grabbed my camera, and proceeded to one end of the strip to begin my coverage. It was a warm Saturday morning, but with this venue there is plenty of shade. I walked around checking out the cars with many others doing the same.
As I walked around, I kept looking for the man of the hour… Sergio Gonzalez. If you haven’t heard already, Sergio was involved in a fairly bad bike accident when another rider collided with him on the freeway. Thankfully he is still with up, but he’s still recovery with more operations scheduled in the future. Hence the reason for this event’s cause.
Still recovering from the pain, he was not at the meet yet, so I continued walking around snapping photos till the end. At this time I finally saw Sergio arrive, I headed over to check on how he’s been and chatted for a bit. Unfortunately most of the cars had already begun leaving, so he wheeled around checking the remaining cars at the event as I left.
