Last weekend I headed back to West Ave to partake in the latest car meet hosted by The Car Culture. Leading up the day, the forecast wasn’t looking great with Tropical Storm Cindy approaching our coast along with rain storms predicted to hit the Houston area. I was actually suppose to be out of town but plans changed due to the approaching storm, which made me available to attend the meet. The night before I still wasn’t sure if I would be heading out due to weather, so I didn’t set my alarm to wake up early and figured I would play it by ear. I still woke up early enough to see that in fact it wasn’t raining in my neck of the woods. I checked the event page to see Facebook weather just listed cloudy for the event.
I decided to grab my camera and make the trip to check out the event. Once I hit Beltway 8, I was greeted with some hard rain, I was worried how it was looking over the event location because it was pretty bad here. It did clear up by the time I reached 290 which was great so I continued on my way. Once I was much closer, the rain came back but it wasn’t as bad and pretty mild. I parked my ride in the garage and made my way to the show area.
There were a few cars already here, but nowhere near the amount it would of been if the weather was better. One thing about the rain was it did help lower the temperatures a bit. I started taking a few photos as more cars started arriving along with some harder rain, however it wasn’t crazy bad either. This is when the group of Skylines arrived. I continued snapping away as the consistency of the rain keep fluctuating.
After a while the rain cleared up for a bit and I made a few more passes around the venue snapping photos. As the event approached the end, some of the rides started leaving early and the rain returned. I stuck around a bit longer before making my way out. As always there’s a good cause behind the event, this time the collection for the Houston food bank. Despite the weather, it was another good event and I can’t wait for the next one. Stay tuned…
