How did I start the New Year? Well, pretty much the same on how I start each month and January wasn’t any different… as long as I am in town that is. The first Sunday of each month means it’s time for the monthly Cars and Coffee for a Cause charity event hosted by The Woodlands Car Club in… you guessed it, the Woodlands.
I headed out to Market Street with cloudy skies and relatively cold weather, which was a big improvement over 2017’s January event which was freezing. When I left my house, I didn’t realize how cold it was so just had a light zip-up hoodie didn’t do the trick. Even though I was a bit cold, I still grabbed my camera and walked up and down the shopping center to do my coverage of the rides that were present. It was a good turnout with rides filling up both sides of the street… even with my latish arrival.
My routine of late is to start backward on Market Street for my coverage. The reason for that is to hopefully capture some of the rides that happen to leave early and snap a shot as they exit the strip. It only works if they don’t take one of the side streets as their exit, so some of the rides are still missed. The plan was to capture all the rides that were parked and leave since I was a bit cold (born and raised in Houston so I am not used to the colder weather and I wasn’t prepared), which I did and even stayed a bit longer to capture a few extra shots. It was a great start to the new year.
As always, this is a charity event which all the collections from each quarter are combined to go towards a local organization. This quarter’s collection went to CASA – Court Appointed Special Advocates of Montgomery County.
If you enjoy viewing nice cars, definitely check out this event and if you can, contribute to the collection as every bit helps. See you next month!
