After many meets away, Eat Sleep Car Meet finally returned to their original location at Smoothie Factory in Katy. Many people were excited about the venue being back, and I was hoping for a huge turnout. One thing that event host cannot predict or control is the weather, and unfortunately for the night of the meet, it has been raining through the city. As soon as the rain stopped on my side of town, I headed out to Katy to take part in the meet. This month’s meet was also a toy drive for Texas Children’s Hospital – West Campus.
In route I did hit some rain but when I arrive to the lot, it was clear. I arrived within minutes of starting time with cars still pulling in and filling up sections of the lot. I’m sure the weather did deter many from coming out to the meet, as it wasn’t completely packed like it used to be.
Andrew was already out here taking some pictures, and shortly after I joined him. Unfortunately I left my tripod at home, so I had to go free hand with all my shots. Houston wasn’t done with the rain yet, it started raining again, but it was bad. We continued shooting photos as we walked through the main area in front of the strip, some cars did park further back. As we went back and forth through the lot, we hung and and chatted the rest of the night till the meet was over. Even without the huge turnout, ESCM staff were able to collect over 500 gifts for the to drive with everyone’s help that came out.
