Save the date for the Houston Construction Industry Charities’ seventh annual fundraising extravaganza, the Guitars N’ Cars Auto Show. Scheduled for Saturday, October 21st at the Sam Houston Race Park, this big Houston family event is all about classic cars, vintage guitars, live music and most importantly, our veterans, with funds raised once again benefiting U.S. VETS-Houston.
The Guitars N’ Cars Auto Show kicks off at 12pm on Saturday, October 21st and runs until 6pm, showcasing American classics, exotics, hot rods, muscle machines, cars, trucks and motorcycles galore. It’s a rain or shine, family-friendly gathering, with live music, vendors, silent auction and a kid’s zone offering pedal car races, bounce houses and games. All makes, models and years of vehicle are welcome, with registration available online prior to the event at hcias.com or onsite on the day itself.
Guitars N’ Cars serves as the Houston Construction Industry Charities’ main annual fundraiser and all levels of participation help fuel the cause and change lives. According to the US Department of Housing & Urban Development an estimated 49,933 veterans can be homeless on any given night. HCIC was founded with a mission to unite local construction industry resources in giving back to the local community and raising money for the Houston U.S-Vets program, helping with housing, job placement and the general daily needs of over 500 veterans. Over the past five years the non-profit has built a much-needed state of the art commercial kitchen for the Houston U.S. Vets facility (2012-2013), purchased a transport van (2014), donated a further $65,000 in 2014 and an additional $100,000 directly in 2015. Last year the charity raised another $100,000 and Rooms to Go donated 170 much-needed twin mattresses to the Midtown Houston facility. So far this year, HCIC has paid $10,000 of the facility’s monthly food budget, whilst its founder, Clunn Acoustical, will be donating materials and manpower to renovate the dining room. All in all, HCIC has proudly raised over 1.5 MILLION DOLLARS in goods, services and monetary donations in the past seven years and is committed to continuing to improve the lives of local veterans.
