The Mazda MX-5, known in the states as the Mazda Miata, is a lightweight two-seater convertible that happens to be our January 2012 Ride of the Month winner. Mazda started off with the Miata back in 1990 for the US and since then, the little car has been one of the best selling convertible two-seater sports cars in history. Even today this little convertible is still popular and can be seen in the automotive scene, whether it’s on the tracks or parked at a show.
You are looking at the 2000 Mazda Miata MX-5 named Miater, which has been dressed up with some killer looks. The first time I recall coming across her was back at October’s Import Face-Off held locally at the Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown. At that time she was sporting some different shoes and topless, which caught my eye for a picture.
As you can see, Miater has undergone some changes since IFO. Not only is she a looker, but you can also spot this little bad ass Miata tearing up the course monthly at the SCAA autocross events.
Miater didn’t first start with the plans to be the autocross whore she is, at first she was going to be a fun little daily while Chris worked on his RX-7. Things changed and he started noticing he was having more fun in the Miata.
Chris was one of the first to nominate his ride for the contest. However when the voting started on our facebook page it was slow going, but overnight seemed to blow up reaching 141 likes. Miater sure is a nice ride, I hoped it would be the victor but wanted to see what everyone else’s thoughts were. It seemed like the majority of our fans wanted this ride to win as well. After the contest was over I contacted Chris and set up a time to meet up for the shoot. Luckily I got to go for a ride and man does it feel like you are riding on the ground, and if I am not mistaken it wasn’t even one the lowest setting.
Like I said before, things don’t always happen as they are planned, we were suppose to meet up again for another couple of shoots which happens to be partially why the release of the feature was held up. Next time you see this ride, it will be rocking a different look. Maybe once its out from under the knife, we can do a follow up feature but until next time…
