July’s Ride of the Month winner has been in the car scene for a while. He went through a few different rides, ranging from cars and trucks until he found his, the G37s. His first ride was a 1997 Nissan hard body truck. However, it wasn’t until he owned his second ride that he started adding modifications. When Maurice graduated from Sam Houston State University and began his Oil and Gas career, he decided to reward himself for all of his hard work. He wanted something with a little more class and luxury than his rides in the past, and he was certain he wanted a rear wheel drive sporty car.
He test drove a BMW M3, but the transmission didn’t feel quite right for him so he ruled it out as an option. He decided to start looking at the G’s because he remembered his dad wanted one. He knew he wanted a white G with a 6-speed manual transmission and it had to be an “S” model. As fate would have it, Maurice found the G he was looking for with the options he wanted after one day of searching. He took the G for a test drive and the rest is history.
In the beginning, he swore that he wouldn’t modify his G, just like many of us have before. But as we all know, that doesn’t always happen. After going to local car shows and meets he was inspired by what could be done with G’s and he began modifying his ride within the first month with an exhaust system.
Every chance he had, Maurice bought a new mod for his car. Around November, Maurice met some of the members from Houston Z’s and became their first G in the club. With a great group of fellow enthusiasts he was inspired to do even more to his ride.
Maurice decided to name his ride Jackie, after Mila Kunis’s character from That 70’s show. Jackie’s character is beautiful and mysterious, which he feels also represents his ride. After owning several other cars, he finally appreciates what he has now and is very happy with his decision. Since this was a car his father was once interested in and since his parents have done so much for him, he lets them take her out on their date nights.
Maurice has always liked white cars with black accent themes, but figured he needed a little more color. Since he had some red from his Injen intake under the hood, he decided to use red as the other accent color for his baby. Maurice chose his mods carefully keeping in mind that Jackie was also his daily driving car.
