AUSTIN – September 18th through the 20th, Circuit of The Americas hosted the Lone Star Le Mans featuring the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and the Tudor United SportsCar Championship. In the WEC race, the pinnacle of automotive technology is displayed and put to the test in a 6 hour race from dusk into the late night. Hybrid energy recovery systems consisting of flywheels, batteries, or super capacitors assist to recycle or generate energy into cars while laser lighting expands the drivers view.
With an open paddock, autograph sessions and pitlane walks, guests had numerous opportunities to explore and interact with the teams and drivers throughout each full day of racing. Additionally, guests were treated to a festival-like atmosphere around the facility that included live music by Blue Oyster Cult and more, interactive displays, family-friendly games and activities and an exciting fireworks display at night.
This was the most demanding motorsports photography in my practice thus far. 6 hours of panning and framing cars traveling up to 180 mph through Texas heat, rain, and darkness… and that is all after photographing the mid -day Tudor racing. After fatigue sets in, at 10:00 pm eyes can barely keep up with the pace but technique and experience sees through that and I am pleased and proud to display these photos for Houston Streets.
Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer, and Benoit Treluyer take their second win in a row at the Lone Star Le Mans at the Circuit of The Americas after the 24 Heures du Mans.
