Ride of the Month

March 2012 Ride of the Month

In 1967 General Motors introduced the Chevrolet Camaro as competition for the Ford Mustang, which happens to be the same make and model form last months Ride of the Month.  The Chevy Camaro shared the same General Motors “F-Body” platform and major components with the Pontiac Firebird, which happened to be introduced the same year.  Since then the production of the Camaro it lasted till 2002 when they put at a end.  Moni, our Ride of the Month winner, loved the 1st and 2nd genreration Camaro and wanted to own a new Camaro, but with the end of the production it look like it wouldn’t happen.  Thankfully for her she got a new opportunity when General Motors decided to bring life to the fifth generation Camaro in 2010.

The Camaro came back with some retro styling resembling many features from the first generation but with a modern touch.  Moni loved how GM captured the classic American muscle in the modern version. She knew exactly what she wanted when it came down to purchasing her new ride.  She didn’t wait long for her new ride, it was number 27,644 built in July 21 of 2009 and she took home the new Camaro August 19, 2009.

Early 2011 it was time to finally name her Camaro, which was given the name Khaoss.  The name Khaos was taken from Greek methodology, the void between Heaven and Hell and was the first of the primeval gods to emerge at the creation of the universe.  Many may know the English version which is “utter confusion and/or disorder” but they chose the Greek version as a better fit for the car, even though her husband claims it fits Moni more than the car.  Why the second “S” in Khaoss, it’s to represent that this camaro is the 2SS model.

Khaoss started off as Moni’s daily driving machine currently with just over 52,000 miles, but in early 2011 she decided it’s time to start with the modifications.  One of the first things that was needed, was to remove the Ron Carter Auto logo. You can spot Khaoss and Moni through out Houston attending car meets and shows with a few awards under their belt already.
